Special modules
The Orbit Network does more than just interface to Solartron Digital Gauging probes. There are a number of add-on modules that facilitate the use of additional sensors, as described below:
Analog Input Module (AIM)
allows the Orbit network to be connected to a wide range of sensors that have current or voltage output.
Encoder Input Modules (EIM)
provides a simple interface for incremental rotary encoders or linear encoders. This is particularly useful in machine building for measuring parts such as camshafts, making it easier to achieve profiling. The EIM can also be used as a controller for high-speed data acquisition where it is important to synchronize the measurement with the position on the rotating part.
Digital Input Output Modules (DIOM)
Up to 6 inputs and 4 outputs
Controlled over Orbit Digital Measurement Network
Multiple modules can be connected
DIN rail mounting for easy installation
Digimatic Interface (DIM)
The Digital Input Module (DIM) is designed to connect to an Ant digital meter with Digimatic output, allowing the integration of handheld instruments into Orbit networks. The DIOM digital input output module provides a means of reading external discrete signals such as switches used to control external elements such as relays or alarms.
Strain Gauge Input Modules (SGIM)
The Strain Gauge Input Module (SGIM) is designed to connect to any common strain gauge. The Strain Gauge Interface Module (SGIM) allows for the connection of devices such as force gauges.
